A collection of independents, not a brand
The Leading Hotels of the World is a membership organisation of more than 400 independently owned hotels. Nobody owns them centrally. A hotel joins, and it can leave, which is why membership is worth checking rather than assuming from the name over the door. What the collection provides is a shared standard and a shared reservation system, not a house style.
That independence is the reason the collection matters. A great many of the hotels in it have no advisor programme of their own, because there is no group behind them to run one.
How we book it
Rendezvous holds a Leading Advisor Number, which makes us the advisor of record on your reservation and gives the hotel somebody to deal with before you arrive. Leaders Club rates are placed through the collection's own desk with that number attached, and we enrol you into Leaders Club at the same time if you are not already a member.
The membership has to sit with the lead traveller for the benefits and the points to land, which is the one detail worth getting right at the point of booking rather than at check-in.
Where it earns its place
At an independent hotel with no programme of its own and no Virtuoso membership, this is frequently the only route to an amenity at all, and it costs you nothing. Where the property is also Virtuoso, we compare the two and book the stronger one. Where it is a brand we hold directly, that programme almost always wins.
