A very large group with a defined luxury tier
IHG Hotels & Resorts is UK-listed and reported 6,963 open hotels and over a million rooms across more than 100 countries as of 31 December 2025, with a further 2,300 properties in the pipeline.
Destined applies to six brands rather than that whole system: Six Senses, Regent, InterContinental, Vignette Collection, Kimpton and Hotel Indigo, and to selected properties within them. Those six are exactly IHG's own defined Luxury & Lifestyle collection.
Points and elite nights both still count
A Destined booking earns IHG One Rewards points and elite-night credit, and elite benefits still apply, because IHG treats it as it would a direct reservation. Where an elite benefit and a Destined benefit overlap, which usually means breakfast, the guest receives the better of the two rather than both.
Destined rates cannot be combined with member rates, packages or pre-paid rates. That is worth knowing if you were planning to book a discounted advance-purchase rate: the amenities attach to the qualifying rate, not to whichever rate is cheapest.
The widest span of any program we hold
Every other program on our list sits at one price point. Destined covers Six Senses, which is genuinely ultra-luxury, and Hotel Indigo, which is not, under a single set of rules. IHG bought Six Senses outright for US$300 million in February 2019, so it owns the brand rather than franchising it in.
For a traveller that breadth is practical rather than abstract: a trip that pairs a city stay at a Kimpton with a week at a Six Senses can run on one program, with the same advisor and the same treatment at both ends.
The newest program we hold
Destined launched on 6 January 2025, replacing IHG's previous agency programs for its luxury and lifestyle brands. It is the most recent of the eighteen we work with, and property participation is still settling, so we check rather than assume.
