Rosewood Elite: Benefits, Credit and Which Hotels

Founded in Dallas, owned from Hong Kong

Rosewood was founded in 1979 by Caroline Rose Hunt, daughter of the oil magnate H.L. Hunt, and opened its first property, The Mansion on Turtle Creek in Dallas, in 1981. It was acquired by New World Hospitality in 2011 and is now privately owned by Chow Tai Fook Enterprises, the Cheng family's Hong Kong group.

The Rosewood brand runs to around 37 hotels, resorts and residences across 22 countries, within a wider group portfolio of 59 properties in 26 countries that also includes New World Hotels, the Asaya wellness brand and Carlyle & Co., a private members' club brand.

No points, and no tiers to protect

Rosewood does not operate a loyalty program. The brand's stated position is that recognition, rather than a points currency, is what its guests actually want, and in practice that means the route to added value is the booking channel rather than an account balance.

Elite is that channel. It is invitation-only on the advisor side, and the rates are not bookable from Rosewood's own website.

A very unusual year of openings

Rosewood opened eight properties in 2025, including its first ski resort, Rosewood Courchevel Le Jardin Alpin, a 51-key ski-in, ski-out property in Courchevel 1850, and its first standalone residential project in Beverly Hills.

The one most people have heard about is The Chancery Rosewood, which opened in September 2025 in the former United States Embassy on Grosvenor Square: a Grade II-listed Eero Saarinen building from 1960, restored by Sir David Chipperfield, with 144 suites. Very few hotel groups get to convert a building of that significance, and fewer still do it alongside a first ski resort in the same year.

How the booking is handled

You pay Rosewood's own rate. The property pays the advisor commission from its margin, which is what funds the amenities, and the reservation is flagged to the hotel before you arrive.
