Five
The newest hotel on this list is also the one with the least evidence behind it, and both facts come from the same date.
Rosa Alpina had been run by the Pizzinini family since 1939. It reopened as Aman Rosa Alpina on 24 July 2025 after a complete redesign by Jean-Michel Gathy of Denniston, with Hugo and Ursula Pizzinini still involved. Fifty-one rooms, suites and signature suites. The Aman Spa runs to 1,684 square metres over two levels, with seven treatment suites, a twenty-metre heated outdoor infinity pool, an indoor pool, a family pool, and two medical treatment rooms, which is not something the others offer. Winter 2026/27 will be its second full season.
It is not ski-in, ski-out, whatever you read elsewhere. Aman's own announcement describes a ski butler service handling equipment and shuttle transfers to the nearby Piz Sorega lift. Three minutes on foot, or take the shuttle. What you reach from there is 130 kilometres of Alta Badia and, on one pass, the 1,200 kilometres that Dolomiti Superski covers across twelve areas. Those two numbers measure different things and should not be added together.
The three Michelin stars that St. Hubertus held here are gone and are not coming back. Dining is now under Gianluca Salvato across Il Salotto, The Grill, the Heritage Room and a reservation-only wine library. Alta Badia's lifts run 4 December 2026 to 4 April 2027. Go in the second half of the season, when the hotel has a full winter behind it and the Sella Ronda is reliably open.

Four
Fifty-three keys, thirty-three of them suites, on the site of a former Olympic ski jump. It opened on 11 December 2013 with interiors by India Mahdavi and Joseph Dirand, and it sits in the Jardin Alpin, the enclave above Courchevel 1850 that you reach on skis rather than by road. About three minutes on skis to the lifts; ten minutes on foot or five in the hotel car to the village.
This is the hotel where the high season does the most damage, and it is worth seeing the numbers before you choose your week. On published 2026/27 guide pricing, a room runs from 1,685 euros in low season to 2,975 in high, a rise of 77 per cent. A suite goes from 5,343 euros to 11,000, which is 106 per cent. No other hotel here comes close to that. Four Seasons Megève, by comparison, adds 6 per cent to its suites.
Be careful what you read about the restaurants. At opening the signature room was overseen by Yannick Franques and there was a caviar bar; the consortium listings still describe Koori and Le Comptoir. None of that is current. The hotel now runs L'Apogée Club and Beefbar Courchevel under executive chef Romain Antoine, and claims no Michelin star. The spa is by La Prairie, five treatment rooms plus a duo cabin, with a banya lounge suite that is genuinely unusual in the Alps.
Book low season here or book a room rather than a suite. The suite curve is the steepest on this list and the room is the same room in April.

Three
Of the eight hotels we looked at for this piece, this is the only one where the ski access is published as a measurement rather than a mood. Sixty-nine metres from the Teewinot High Speed Quad, in a straight line. Everyone else offers you a number of minutes, which depends on how well you ski.
It opened in December 2003 and runs 156 keys: 106 rooms, 18 suites and 32 resort residences. Four Seasons' own press figures say 156; Virtuoso's listing says 158 in one place and 156 in another. Take the hotel's number. The spa is 11,685 square feet, about 1,085 square metres, with sixteen treatment rooms, the highest count of any hotel here.
What it opens onto is 2,500 acres of in-bounds terrain across Après Vous and Rendezvous, 131 named trails and sixteen lifts, with a further 3,000-plus acres of backcountry through an open-gate system that is counted separately and should stay that way. American resorts publish acres, not piste kilometres, so there is no honest way to set Jackson Hole against Courchevel on a single number. Anyone who gives you one has made it up.
One correction worth carrying with you. Virtuoso lists the airport at six kilometres. Four Seasons says Jackson Hole Airport is 32 kilometres away, about 35 minutes by car, and Four Seasons is right. The mountain opens on 27 November 2026.

Two
Caspar Badrutt opened it on 29 July 1896, on the site of the Beau Rivage he had rebuilt four years earlier, and the family still controls it. In 2025 it added the Serlas Wing, designed by Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel, whose twenty-two suites and three residences had been under construction since 2022.
The room count depends on the season, which is why you will find four different figures for it. The hotel runs 159 rooms including 35 suites in winter and 130 including 33 in summer; its own fact sheet says 172, which is the full built inventory. In winter it carries 640 staff against those 159 keys, which is about four people per room, and runs eleven restaurants, two bars and a nightclub, dropping to six restaurants and one bar in summer. Chesa Veglia, the farmhouse it uses as a restaurant complex, is 364 years old.
Now the correction, because it is repeated everywhere including by the hotel. Badrutt's does not currently have a Michelin-starred restaurant. IGNIV by Andreas Caminada left in 2023, when the contract was not renewed after seven years. The hotel's own 2025 fact sheet and press kit still list it. So does Virtuoso. The current Michelin guide for St Moritz shows fifteen restaurants: the two-star rooms are Da Vittorio at the Carlton and Ecco at Giardino Mountain, the one-star is Talvo, and the two Badrutt's restaurants that appear carry nothing. What the hotel does hold is three Michelin Keys, the top rating, in 2024 and 2025. Keys rate the hotel, not the kitchen.
It is not ski-in, ski-out either. The hotel sits in the village above the lake and drives you to the lifts, about three minutes. Corviglia runs 28 November 2026 to 4 April 2027.

One
Thirty-six rooms and suites, open every winter since 2006, December to April, and genuinely ski-in, ski-out from the Jardin Alpin. Two minutes to the lifts, six by car to the village. On the measurable things it is the strongest hotel on this list, and one fact does most of the work.
Le 1947 holds three Michelin stars under Yannick Alléno, awarded in the 2017 guide and current in the 2026 guide for France. Alléno has led the kitchen in Courchevel since 2008. Nobody else here has a starred restaurant at all, and two of them are claimed to and do not. The Apartment, the hotel's largest accommodation, runs to 650 square metres.
What it costs is the other half of the story. On published 2026/27 guide pricing a room starts at 2,900 euros low season and 3,800 high, the highest entry-level rate in this set, and a suite from 7,400. The lift pass is the small number: a six-day adult Les 3 Vallées pass is 421 euros for the 2026/27 season, which is about fifteen per cent of one low-season night here. The money in a trip like this is not the skiing.
One thing to hold lightly. Les 3 Vallées advertises 600 kilometres and the world's largest interconnected ski area. The first part is contested: Christoph Schrahe re-measured pistes down the centre line of each run and got 493 kilometres, and in September 2013 FIANET, the lift operators' own international federation, examined his method and adopted it as the standard. Across the resorts he studied, resort claims ran about 34 per cent high. Les 3 Vallées is still the largest lift-linked area in the world on any measurement. It is just not 600 kilometres.

At this level ski-in, ski-out is a phrase, not a specification. Ask which lift, and how many metres.

Fewer than claim to be. On our list, Cheval Blanc Courchevel and L'Apogée Courchevel both sit in the Jardin Alpin and reach the lifts in two to three minutes on skis, and Four Seasons Jackson Hole is 69 metres from the Teewinot High Speed Quad. Aman Le Mélézin, also in Courchevel, is the only one we found that names its piste: direct access to Bellecôte. Badrutt's Palace drives you to the lifts in about three minutes, The Alpina Gstaad runs at least a five-minute shuttle, and Aman Rosa Alpina shuttles you to Piz Sorega. Four Seasons Megève states direct ski-in, ski-out access on its consumer site, but its own press fact sheet says only that the hotel is on the slopes of Mont d'Arbois, and no Four Seasons source names the piste or the lift.
Between 6 and 106 per cent more for the same room, and suites inflate far harder than rooms. On published 2026/27 guide pricing, Four Seasons Megève adds 33 per cent to a room and 6 per cent to a suite. Cheval Blanc adds 31 per cent to a room. Badrutt's Palace adds 59 per cent. The Alpina Gstaad adds 91 per cent to a room. L'Apogée Courchevel adds 77 per cent to a room and 106 per cent to a suite. Early December and late April are not a slightly cheaper version of the same holiday. They are a different price bracket. One caveat on comparing these: Aman Le Mélézin's rates include breakfast and either lunch or dinner, plus half-board credits usable at six local restaurants, which the others do not.
It is not included at any of these hotels. For 2026/27 a six-day adult Les 3 Vallées pass is 421 euros, with a child pass at 345 and a seven-day at 486; the low-season rate of 378.50 applies 5 to 18 December and 10 to 18 April. A six-day Dolomiti Superski high-season pass, which is what you would buy at Aman Rosa Alpina, is 453 euros. Set against a low-season night at Cheval Blanc, a week of lift passes is about fifteen per cent of one night's room rate. It is not where the money goes.
All five, through different routes. Cheval Blanc Courchevel and Badrutt's Palace through Virtuoso, where Badrutt's is also a Leading Hotels member. L'Apogée through Oetker Collection Pearl Partner. Four Seasons Jackson Hole through Four Seasons Preferred Partner. Aman Rosa Alpina through Aman. The amenity set differs by programme and by property, and some of the published packages on consortium sites are several years stale, so the thing to do is confirm the current package at the time of booking rather than trust a listing.
