A collection that owns nothing
The Set Collection is not a hotel owner or operator. It rebranded from The Set Hotels in March 2021 into a representation model: member hotels keep their own ownership, management and identity, and pay performance-related fees for representation, distribution and marketing.
That makes it structurally different from every other affiliation on our list. There is no house style being imposed and no brand standard being enforced, which is the point for the hotels involved and the reason the seventeen members have so little in common with one another.
Seventeen hotels, weighted to the Middle East and Asia
The current members include Hotel Café Royal in London, The Siam in Bangkok, the three Upper House properties in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Chengdu, four Chedi properties across Oman, Qatar, Sharjah and Saudi Arabia, both Shinta Mani hotels in Cambodia, Round Hill in Montego Bay, Nay Palad Hideaway in the Philippines, and Mamilla and The David Citadel in Jerusalem, alongside Andronis Concept in Santorini and Myconian Deos on Mykonos.
The membership moves. The two hotels the collection was originally built around, Hôtel Lutetia in Paris and the Conservatorium in Amsterdam, both passed to Mandarin Oriental management and no longer appear on the list. A collection its own founding hotels have left is a rarity worth knowing about before you book.
DISCOVERY Dollars, and no conflict
The Set's guest program is The Set DISCOVERY, its implementation of the Global Hotel Alliance scheme, so it is not a conventional points program: members earn DISCOVERY Dollars at a fixed one-to-one value against the US dollar, across four tiers from Silver to Titanium.
The Set states that members can book direct or through their travel advisor using their membership, so the advisor booking and the loyalty membership are not in conflict here in the way they are at Mandarin Oriental or Rocco Forte.
One of the two newest programs we hold
The Set by Invitation launched in May 2025 and is extended to a small number of advisors. Along with IHG Destined it is the most recent of our eighteen programs, so participation and terms are still settling and we check rather than assume.
