A large group with a small luxury subset
Hyatt Hotels Corporation is publicly traded and reported more than 1,450 hotels and all-inclusive properties across 82 countries as of 30 September 2025. World of Hyatt passed 63 million members by the end of that year.
Privé is a subset of that, not the whole of it. Park Hyatt, Andaz and Miraval participate across the board, alongside selected Grand Hyatt, Hyatt Regency, Hyatt Centric, Thompson, Alila, Joie de Vivre and Unbound Collection properties. Hyatt Place and most select-service brands sit outside the program entirely, and award redemptions do not qualify.
The one program where you give up nothing
This is the reason Privé matters. Hyatt treats a Privé rate as a direct booking rather than a third-party one, so it earns full World of Hyatt points and full elite-night credit, and existing elite status is still recognised on the stay.
That combination is rare. On most programs a guest weighs advisor amenities against loyalty earning; on Privé there is no weighing to do, because the client can hold status, earn toward it and take the amenities on the same reservation. Confirmed in advance, not at the desk
The structural difference travellers notice is timing. Under Privé an upgrade request is worked within a defined window after booking rather than being settled when you arrive, whereas even top-tier World of Hyatt status normally resolves upgrades at check-in.
Knowing days ahead of time which room you have is worth more than it sounds, particularly on a trip where the room is the point. It also means a disappointing answer arrives early enough to do something about.
Before you book
Ask us whether the property participates. Given how much of the Hyatt portfolio sits outside Privé, this is the most common thing we have to check, and the answer is not predictable from the brand name alone.
