Privately held, and growing

Four Seasons has been privately held since a US$3.8 billion buyout in 2007. Cascade Investment, Bill Gates's investment vehicle, holds 71.25 per cent and Kingdom Holding Company holds 23.75 per cent; the founder, Isadore Sharp, remains a shareholder and is named as such in the company's own announcements.

As of January 2026 the company reported 135 hotels and resorts across 47 countries, 61 residential properties in 20 countries, and roughly 60 projects in development. Sixty-five per cent of that pipeline includes a residential component. The company marked 65 years in January 2026, having started in 1961 with the Four Seasons Motor Hotel in Toronto.

No points, by design

Four Seasons runs no points program. There is no currency to earn, no tier to maintain and no co-branded card. This is the single most common misunderstanding we correct: guests assume that booking through an advisor costs them something, and at Four Seasons there is nothing it could cost.

The brand now operates a ship

Four Seasons I made its maiden voyage on 20 March 2026: 207 metres, 95 all-suite accommodations with no interior cabins, built with Marc-Henry Cruise Holdings and Fincantieri. A second vessel has been announced for 2028, introducing multi-bedroom Yacht Residential Suites. The company also operates a branded Airbus A321neo private jet.
