An opt-in program, hotel by hotel
Marriott runs two advisor programs under one shared rulebook. LUMINOUS covers W Hotels, JW Marriott, Autograph Collection and a selected number of hotels from other Marriott brands, which in practice means properties from Westin, Le Méridien, Renaissance, Tribute Portfolio and Marriott Hotels.
The structural point is that LUMINOUS is opt-in at the level of the individual hotel, not the brand. A JW Marriott in one city may participate while another does not, and the enhanced property credit is an option each hotel elects rather than a guarantee across the program. Marriott STARS, by contrast, applies across all properties of its six brands.
Bonvoy keeps running underneath
A LUMINOUS booking is a qualifying Marriott rate. Points accrue, elite nights accrue, and existing status is recognised, at the same rate as a standard flexible booking made direct. Where a status benefit and a LUMINOUS benefit cover the same thing, the guest receives the more valuable of the two rather than both.
What does not qualify is an award redemption. Points stays sit outside the program, as do member-only rates, advance-purchase rates and most promotional rates, so the amenities attach to a standard rate rather than to the cheapest one on the screen.
The scale underneath the program
Marriott reported more than 9,800 properties and nearly 1.78 million rooms across 145 countries as of 31 December 2025, and Bonvoy passed 271 million members. No other program we hold sits on top of anything remotely that size.
Scale cuts both ways. It means the widest possible choice of destination, and it means the recognition on a given stay depends far more on the individual hotel than it does at a twelve-property collection. That is the honest trade, and it is why we check the specific property rather than quoting the brand.
Ask us about the property, not the brand
Because participation is per hotel, the useful question is never whether Marriott participates. Send us the hotel you have in mind and we will tell you whether it is in LUMINOUS, whether it is in STARS instead, and whether the credit applies there.
The rate is Marriott's own, with commission paid from Marriott's side. Start an enquiry or send a booking you already hold.
